Ancient Rome - Roman Armours
The Roman armor to protect the upper body were formed in two specially shaped pieces for the chest and back, over the bust and leather to metal, there was also the lorica hamata (chain mail formed from a metal ring made of iron ) and lorica segmented, developed since the second half of the first century AD and worn by the legionaries in place of chain mail (lorica hamata) because of the lighter chainmail.
