Sword inspired to the figure of Roland (perhaps the same Durendal sang in Le Chanson de Roland), paladine of Charlemagne, falled, following the legend, heroically while leading the retroguard of the Frank army, in an ambush set by Moors in the gorge of Roncisvaux. The sword of Roland has a steel made blade, ornated with gold engravings on the upper part. The golden-plated cast metal hilt has the quillons bended toward the blade and leaf-shaped pommel and is decorated with relief figures. Overall lenght 117 cms.
