The Sutton Hoo Helmet

The original helmet (or rather what pieces were left of it) was found in 1939 while digging for a ship grave in Sutton Hoo, near Woodbridge, Suffolk, England. Sutton Hoo's helmet, restored, now at the British Museum. Though it is based on spangenhelm-type helmets, its prototypes are the helmets of the Vendel era of eastern Sweden.
